Since Hurricane Maria, the worst natural disaster in 100 years in PR, Calvary Chapel has been providing food, water and relief supplies to communities all across Puerto Rico. As the Hurricane Relief effort increased, the Lord opened the door for a 23,000 square foot Office Depot warehouse space to receive and distribute relief supplies. By the grace of God, over 1.4 million pounds of hurricane relief supplies have been received and distributed to the people of Puerto Rico from our Hurricane Relief Team.
We were blessed to be able to supply our community orphanages and elderly homes with food, diapers, hygiene products, clothing, paper products, insect repellant, candles and cleaning products. With bulk food supplies we received, volunteers cooked meals and distributed them to multiple cities across the island, including: Toa Baja, Arecibo, San Juan, Guaynabo, Humacao, Carolina, Orocovis, Morovis, Mayaguez, Ponce, Aguadilla, Canovanas, Pinones, Yabucoa and Cupey. CCPR even sent relief supplies via private planes to the neighboring islands of Vieques, Culebra, and Tortola with the help of generous donors.
Through the collaboration of private donors and medical doctors, we have also been able to assist over 12 non-profit clinics to receive desperately needed medical supplies across Puerto Rico. With the help of teachers in Bayamon, toys and school supplies were distributed at Christmas to bless an extremely poor community. Over 2,500 toothbrushes, toothpaste and bars of soap were distributed to school children in Humacao. Donations of dog and cat food have been distributed to various groups across the island.
The Lord has provided the supplies and the manpower for the relief efforts. Mission teams and volunteers living on the island have made it possible to help the people of Puerto Rico. CCPR has hosted 12 different mission teams from the US which have been instrumental in bringing hope and healing to communities. By fixing roofs, using chainsaws to clear debris, cleaning houses that were flooded, repairing walls, painting and providing water filtration systems these mission teams have helped people rebuild their lives again. All glory to God for the great things He has done! Eph 3:20
